Benefits of Pilates

Benefits of Pilates: Myofascial Healing in Juno Beach FL

“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness” by Joseph Pilates. It is the key to healthy living. Exercise is a natural and healthy way to keep your mind and body in good shape. Pilates is a form of exercise that has many benefits and can improve your overall health.

Benefits of Pilates

“Pilates is the complete coordination of the mind, body and spirit.” by Joseph Pilates.

There are many benefits of Pilates, such as:

  •  Lengthens/Aligns the Spine
  •  Improves Pelvic Stability
  •  Strengthens Muscles
  •  Relieves Pain and Tension
  •  Targets Peak Performance
  •  Creates a Healthy Mindset
  •  Promotes Detoxification and Boosts Immunity
  •  Rehabilitates Sports Injuries
  •  Enhances Performance

Benefits of Pilates for Rehabilitation

Pilates for Rehab is an essential treatment option before and after surgery or after an injury.  It is a wonderful way to optimize your alignment, improve your bone density, increase the mobility in your joints, and get rid of your pain. It uses the method of finding and treating the source of the problem with exercises that focus on stability, strengthening, mobility, and breath to ensure your body functions efficiently.

Benefits of Pilates for Different Bone Conditions

Pilates can prove to be beneficial for different bone conditions, some of which are the following:

  • Stenosis is a very common issue as we age.  We lose height and mobility in our spine. Narrowing of the joints compresses our nerves and our discs causing pain and dysfunction.  Pilates focuses on lengthening the spine and in strengthening the deep stabilizing muscles. It also helps in distributing forces along the spine so that vulnerable areas such as the cervical or lumbar spine are protected. We have many exercises that we include that will help minimize the progression of stenosis.
  • Osteoporosis is a serious problem in women, especially after menopause. Pilates helps in improving muscle mass in a safe range and improves bone density. Moreover, there are many exercises dedicated to people with osteoporosis. At Myofascial Healing and Pilates, we provide group and private/duo Pilates classes on Equipment that have been proven to be beneficial for osteoporosis and osteopenia patients.
  • Scoliosis is a condition with a curved spine and many suffer with pain. Pilates can stabilize the spine and prevent further progression of the curving of the spine. We offer a course of exercises that have proven beneficial for many of our clients with scoliosis.

Additionally, we provide a contemporary type of Pilates  taught by Polestar Pilates®. Polestar Pilates was founded by Brent Anderson and is based on rehabilitation and movement science.

She is recovering from the Coronavirus and has some extremely practical advice to handle having the Coronavirus that I really need to share. Please read her whole post and share with your friends. The biggest takeaway she gives is to not live if fear. Use your breath to calm your mind.

Below is a letter I had written to my patients today; I decided to share with everyone, since there is so much hear-say...
