Physical Therapy

At Myofascial Healing and Pilates, you will receive one-on-one treatment, with complete dedication and focus on your treatment and recovery. Whether you are about to have surgery, recovering from surgery or are dealing with a chronic condition, our physical therapist will work with you to create a plan to restore your quality of life.

Our Physical Therapy Services include a customized, holistic, whole body approach using Myofascial Release and Pilates Rehabilitation.

This level of specialized attention is only possible without medical insurance companies dictating diagnosis-based treatment. Insurance-based physical therapy is limited to addressing only the areas of dysfunction, however that approach does not address the root of the problem. Usually, where the pain is felt is not the origin of the problem.

For example, shoulder pain can be a result of a misaligned pelvis or a neck issue. By not being able to treat the body as a whole, the results are extremely limited and often temporary.

We use a whole-body approach to find and treat the cause of the problem to return to the activites you enjoy!

Myofascial Release

John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach (MFR) addresses the entire body by using sustained gentle pressure into the fascia that is held for a minimum of 5 minutes to release restrictions that cause tension and pain.

Physical and emotional trauma, inflammation and/or restrictions can produce 2,000 pounds of pressure per square inch on pain sensitive structures such as nerves and blood vessels.

This amount of pressure can move bones out of alignment and cause significant impact throughout the body. If not addressed, restrictions continue and the body systems are unable to function properly.

MFR Treats The Entire System.

It affects the mind/body connection by eliminating the restrictions in the fascia that may have started from physical or emotional trauma.

We offer individualized Myofascial Release Therapy.

For more intensive treatment, Multiple therapists combine techniques for an unparalled level of care.

Pilates

Myofascial Healing and Pilates is proud to bring the Polestar® method of Pilates to Juno Beach, Florida. Polestar® is a rehabilitative form of Pilates that combines the Pilates principles with the current scientific understanding of movement.

Reformer Pilates is a truly unique form of exercise that uses machines with springs to stretch and strengthen every part of the body, from the core to the extremities. It combines very specific movements in relation to the breath and awareness of body mechanics.

Each class is a personalized, specific, and safe method of strengthening for all body types, age groups and abilities. This method uses principles of body alignment, breath, and specific exercises with sequencing to effectively eliminate poor inefficient patterns. The result is a stronger body with greater ability for freedom and ease of movement.

With our trained and certified Pilates instructors, you will attain functional goals while being effectively instructed. Your specific needs will be taken into consideration with every lesson.

Private classes taught by our experienced resident physical therapist blend the knowledge of Polestar® Rehabilitative Pilates with effective physical therapy.

Pilates was designed to optimize your performance, develop mental awareness, and promote whole body health. Developed by Joseph Pilates almost a decade ago mainly for rehabilitation, Pilates strengthens and challenges your body safely using specific exercise sequencing and principles.

Accelerated Healing Program

The Accelerated Healing Program provides a profound level of care that will help change chronic pain patterns. It is designed to jumpstart your healing process.

Our program consists of intense treatments to help release painful fascial restrictions that have been causing debilitating problems, so that the body can return to optimum alignment and function. Pilates is then introduced to reinforce structural alignment and balance. The minimum program length is 5 days, however each person is different and a longer program may be necessary for chronic conditions.

Why this works

Myofascial Release improves the alignment of the body, releasing restrictions that have over time caused significant fascial tension. Fascial tension can cause blood vessels and nerves to be compressed. Myofascial Release can release the fascia, which liberates the pain sensitive nerves and blood vessels, creating healthy, pain-free movement. Once restrictions are released and structural alignment has been resolved, we reinforce mind-body connection and structural integrity with Rehabilitative Pilates.

For those who have more complex conditions, we may recommend a longer duration.

This Program is ideal for those who:

  • Suffer from chronic pain that other forms of therapy haven’t helped
  • Have experienced trauma
  • Understand the emotional side of pain
  • Want an individualized healing journey

Athletic Optimization Program

Our Performance Optimization Program is for people who are committed to improving their overall physical well-being in order to enhance personal performance in their professional or recreational sport or activity. It is a one or two-week, Monday through Friday commitment.

Performance Optimization starts with a functional assessment by our physical therapist to best determine your individual needs. You will be treated with multiple Myofascial Release sessions to release restrictions and align your body. The sessions are focused on improving the mobility of your joints, muscles, rib cage, diaphragm, and areas that may be causing inefficient movement patterns.

Multiple private Pilates sessions are then used to reinforce your newly aligned body, focusing on balance, alignment, and strength, maximizing movement efficiency. With your goals in mind, we create a plan specifically designed for you. The length of your program is determined by your desired outcome.

One-week program:

For anyone who wants to
improve their athletic ability.

Two-week program:

For athletes who want to optimize
their performance for competition.

What to expect during your treatment

At your first session, your therapist will review your health history and perform a visual postural evaluation.

Every session, your therapist will do a physical assessment to see and feel where the restrictions are coming from. These areas of restrictions are contributing to your pain, discomfort or other symptoms.

During your treatment, your therapist will apply skilled manual techniques into areas of tension to soften the areas of restriction.

Sometimes sensations like buzzing, tingling, discomfort or other sensations arise when a technique is being applied. It might be felt in the area being treated or elsewhere in your body. This is due to the fascia.

You may feel like stretching or moving your body during the session. Let it happen.

Old traumas are held in restricted fascia and when the restrictions release, it can bring up the emotions and/or memories of the trauma.

By letting yourself feel fully, you are more able to release completely. Your therapist is skilled to assist and guide you in this process.

If at anytime you feel uncomfortable or if a technique is creating too much discomfort, please let your therapist know and the therapist will adjust their touch.

What is Fascia

Fascia is what gives your body its shape.

It is a three-dimensional web that surrounds and connects your skin to muscles, muscle fibers to each other, muscles to bones, bone to bone, and all the way down to the cell membrane without interruption. In other words, it connects every part of your entire body to every other part and it provides structure through it’s wire-like tensioned framework.

Healthy fascia is moist, pliable, and fluid. When your experience physical or emotional trauma, your fascia dehydrates, adheres to itself and other structures, hardens, shortens, and pulls the rest of your body out of alignment. The result is an inefficient body with limited function and pain.

One of the problems with traditional therapy is that doctors and other diagnosticians are unable to accurately diagnose problems in the fascial system, as fascia does not show up on diagnostic tests. If doctors can’t see it, they don’t treat it.

Pain caused by fascial restrictions are often treated with medications, and medications only treat the painful symptoms and not the cause of the dysfunction.

Your fascial restrictions will not disappear if left untreated.

Restrictions that pull the body out of alignment will significantly impact your entire system. They can compress pain sensitive structures such as nerves and blood vessels and the function of the organ systems.

Myofascial release treats the fascial system, releasing restricted areas that give rise to pain and dysfunction. This work affects the entire mind/body connection by eliminating the restrictions in the fascia that are causing the symptoms.

If restrictions remain, your pain can also become chronic, and your quality of life will be significantly affected.

About Us

It is true that a common activity can bring people together. For the women of Myofascial Healing and Pilates, that is definitely the case. They had an instant connection from their common love of Myofascial Release and their innate desire to help others.

When Roxana Molina-Lopez, MSPT, NCPT moved to the Palm Beaches, she met a fellow Myofascial Release practitioner Jeann Brick at a Myofascial Study group. A month later, she and Rachel O’Neill met by chance at Women in Bizz, a networking group for women in Palm Beach North. Rachel is also a Myofascial Release practitioner. From the moment they met, they knew it was something special.

They talked everyday and worked through detail after detail. Four months later Myofascial Healing and Pilates officially was born.

Myofascial Healing and Pilates is a state-of-the-art Physical Therapy clinic in Juno Beach. We specialize in Physical Therapy, Myofascial Release Therapy and Rehabilitative Pilates.

Every patient receives the best concierge care catered to their individual needs.

Rachel O’Neill, LMT

When people are hurting, it is not uncommon for their lives to be severely impacted. Rachel O’Neill, LMT knows this firsthand. While working as a chef, she fell and fractured her tailbone and sacrum. For 15 years, she struggled with debilitating hip and sciatic pain. Sitting for long periods of time was impossible as was walking long distances.

To find relief, Rachel tried anything that was recommended to her. After the Orthopedic surgeon did a slew of tests, he couldn’t find a reason for her pain and wanted to do surgery. She ran from his office and tried other treatments, like chiropractic, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, massage therapy and physical therapy. She never found relief.

After a particularly painful experience at an insurance-based Physical Therapy office, Rachel’s pain and dysfunction was at an all-time high. Someone recommended Myofascial Release. With nothing left to lose, she made an appointment.

That appointment changed her life forever. Not only did Myofascial Release address the root cause of her pain and dysfunction, she went back to school to become a massage therapist. She bacame a Myofascial Release therapist so that she could help others find a resolution to their dysfunction and end their pain.. It also brought her partner, mentor and friend Roxana Molina-Lopez into her life.

Rachel O’Neill, LMT is the Co-founder of Myofascial Healing Center. She manages the day to day business at Myofascial Healing Center as well as a treats her clients as a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Myofascial Release Therapist.

Jeann Brick, LMT

in 2008 a friend recommended a book to Jeann by John F. Barnes, the “father” of Myofascial Release – and she never looked back.

Since then, Jeann has devoted her professional career as a massage therapist to mastering the principles and developing her artistry of this extraordinary work.

Credentialed at the expert level in the Barnes method, and licensed in both Florida and Hawaii, she is thrilled to join with Roxy and Rachel in providing the highest level of compassionate care to the clients of Myofascial Healing and Pilates.
